  • Signs of infection

Toothache & Dental Pain

Persistent toothache usually has a specific cause — decay, infection of the nerve, a cracked tooth or advanced gum disease. We diagnose the source quickly with focused examination and X-rays, then relieve the pain at the same visit wherever possible.

Swelling & Dental Infection

Facial swelling from a dental infection should always be assessed urgently — left untreated it can spread to other areas of the head and neck.

Treatment usually involves draining the infection, antibiotics where appropriate, and definitive treatment (root canal or extraction) at a follow-up visit.

Broken or Damaged Teeth

Chips, fractures and knocked-out teeth are stabilised at the emergency appointment and finished with cosmetic restoration once any acute symptoms have settled. Same-day CEREC crowns mean many fractured back teeth can be fully rebuilt in one visit.

Lost Fillings & Crowns

A lost filling or crown leaves the underlying tooth exposed and sensitive. We can usually re-cement an intact crown straight away, or replace a lost filling or failed restoration in the same appointment.

What To Do in a Dental Emergency

If you're experiencing a dental emergency, take these steps:

  • Call our practice as soon as possible
  • Describe your symptoms clearly to our reception team
  • For a knocked-out adult tooth, keep it in milk and come in immediately
  • Don't delay treatment for swelling or severe pain
  • Keep any broken tooth fragments if you can
  • Seek urgent A&E care for severe facial swelling or difficulty breathing/swallowing
